tSIP plugin: Philips VOIP1511B/10 USB handset

USB handset also known as VOIP151, dedicated for Skype. It is from 2008 and probably is not suitable now for its original purpose as it looks like Philips software is not recognizing current Skype version. I think that Skype dropped altogether support for extension protocol around 2015.

Device VID 0x0471, PID 0x2013.

Display: 12 14-segment characters plus few telephony-related symbols.

It is unlikely that this kind of device would have any technical documentation available. Button handling / capturing button presses from handset is easy, driving the display is harder. Having original software I was able to capture/duplicate its functionality: displaying time and activating ringer, but since 2008 Skype is not working anymore (cannot connect to network) and Philips software is not compatible with new Skype version, I haven't found a way to display CLIP/text on all 12 display positions.
VOIP151 software
Through poking with different control bytes I've found few other display modes (date, telephone symbols control), but not the one that would be most useful for CLIP.

Audio quality issue: I'm hearing silent whining from the speaker during the call.

There is a selection of 6 different ringtones (played by a buzzer and selected by ringType in JSON/cfg file), but all of them are awful.

Overall this does not seem any better than similar off-brand products. Other similar device I own, EX-03 desk phone seems more convenient, has better display and is more serviceable. I guess "travel" might the selling point of this Philips handset, but I have my doubts if this would be a significant market.

This plugin was compiled using Code::Blocks 16.01 / MinGW.
