Creative Muvo TX SE mp3 player

MP3 player from 2006, powered by single AAA cell. 512 MB internal FLASH. Model number: DAP-TD0009.
Well past its best days, but still somewhat interesting.

This player was completely dead on arrival, not consuming any current from USB.

Unfortunately shell is closed with glue (or ultrasound welding?) and might be hard to open without damaging.

Sigmatel STMP3510 SoC, quite popular chip. Parts of it are still present inside Freescale/NXP i.MX family.
24-bit DSP working with 75 MHz clock, 90dB SNR Line-in to Line-out, USB High Speed, 3 analog inputs (Line-in stereo, FM, Mic), graphical equalizer, ADPCM recording.
It looks like the empty space on the right is for FM receiver in Muvo TX FM variant.

It looks like this graphic LCD has some built-in controller.
LCD has faint backlight, blue/green like electrominescent backlight in watches. Maybe L2 is used to power it?
NAND is placed underneath.

On the other PCB side there is a place for second NAND chip - presumably for 1 GB player version.
2004 date looks confusing - I might be wrong about exact year this player was on the market or is might be wrong calling it "SE".

Reason of the failure: broken USB connections. One of the pads (top one / +5V) was completely missing, seconds one had broke PCB trace, two others - just cracked solder.

Replacing broken pad with wire, resoldering other lines.

Firmware is upgradeable in this model, this is not the latest.

This wire replaces broken trace (D- I think - after connecting +5V line device was detected but not recognized).
Some epoxy glue was added to reduce mechanical stress.
